WindWanderers

The Club endeavours to put the social fun into windsurfing by uniting like minded sailors to sail at different venues around South East Queensland between Noosa and Currumbin on a monthly basis. Our meets are non-competitive social gatherings held at locations suitable for great sailing and a great family and social atmosphere. It is hoped that joining sailors of all experiences together we will raise the standard and fun factor for all involved. We are above all a club for the members and by the members.

The Meets

Sessions are normally held from 1pm - 4.30pm and include a bbq. These sessions are sponsored by industry retailers who provide the bbq at each of these sessions. The club also endeavours to include at least one major event per year (Xmas, Easter) and seeks to provide lucky draw prizes from the WindWanderers sponsors. Other than the membership fees outlined below there is no cost in attending the events.

Extra Stuff.

Additional to our website which contains guides and links for around Australia and in particular Queensland. The site also contains video and photo pages of local events as well as archives of previous meets. Further to the website each member receives email newsletters. These newsletters help keep everyone informed and up to date and include interesting windsurfing web links, industry information, club information and meet confirmations.

Club Fees.

The Windwanderers are a non-profit club. The current cost of joining the club is $35 / annum.  This covers the $25 pubic liability cover and also a $10 administration fee. (If a new member, already possess public liability cover, the only fee required to join is the administration fee). All members of the WindWanderers must possess current public liability insurance. A sign on form and event waiver can be found at the bottom of the page.

Insurance.

The public liability insurance is arranged by The Australian Windsurfing Association who provide a national insurance scheme for windsurfers within Australia http://www.windsurfing.org.au/.  The policy provides 12 month, 24 hr a day 7 days a week cover and is distributed through each State Association. This policy is needed to protect the club, it’s organisers and sponsors. The policy runs from July 1st to June 30th each year. Currently there are a few ways to obtain the Public Liability Cover.

How to obtain public liability cover.

1.         Become a Windwanderers Member  :- Members of the Windwanderers currently have access to the Australian Windsurfing Association public liability insurance via Windsurfing QLD.

2.         By joining Windsurfing Queensland directly  :- Another way to obtain insurance is to join Windsurfing QLD directly. By joining WQ directly and becoming a full Windsurfing Queensland member you will also be entitled to compete at WQ organised events. WQ fees are outlined at their website. http://www.windsurfingqld.com/  In short all WQ members are entitled to participate in WindWanderers meets because they possess insurance.

3.         You may already be covered  :- If you are already a member of a State Windsurfing Association within Australia you will already be covered under the respective clubs policies and will not need to take out further cover to join the WindWanderers.

All new membership fees can be paid at the meet on the day at the time of signon. Other than the yearly insurance fee and administration costs there are no additional costs required. I encourage you as a potential member to come along to the next meet, join in the fun and get a feel for what the club is about. Then if you decide the club provides an atmosphere you enjoy we would love to see you again.
